Biography

Lieutenant Commander Ed Hiner (Ret.) spent two decades as a U.S. Navy SEAL, mastering one of the world's most demanding team environments. He completed nine major deployments—leading hundreds of strategic combat missions across Iraq, Afghanistan, the Philippines, and beyond—and was awarded two Bronze Stars with "V" for valor.
In the Battle of Ramadi, he became the first SEAL ever spot-promoted for combat command in Iraq's "Triangle of Death." His leadership under fire earned him recognition at the highest levels of the U.S. military and cemented his reputation as a leader who performs when it matters most.
After retiring from active duty, Ed channeled his hard-won expertise into helping organizations build the kind of elite, high-performance cultures that thrive under pressure. He understands that the principles that keep a SEAL team alive on the battlefield — clarity of mission, radical accountability, trust under fire, and relentless execution — are the same principles that drive extraordinary results in business.
As a keynote speaker, Ed has addressed audiences ranging from Fortune 500 companies to military academies, delivering talks that are equal parts gripping narrative and actionable leadership framework. His sessions are consistently rated among the highest at every event he attends.
As an executive coach and leadership consultant, Ed works directly with CEOs, senior leaders, and management teams to identify performance gaps, build cohesive cultures, and develop the decision-making frameworks that separate good leaders from great ones.
Ed is the author of First, Fast, Fearless: How to Lead Like a Navy SEAL — a Los Angeles Times bestseller that distills two decades of SEAL leadership into a practical guide for any leader who wants to operate at the highest level. He holds a Master of Science in Executive Leadership from the University of San Diego.
Ed is based in La Jolla, California, and works with clients nationwide and internationally.
